Exclusive interview in Meedia - Steffen Bax, Julia Schleunung and Petra Kalb answer questions

iq digital has taken over the digital marketing of the media brands Rolling Stone, Musikexpress and Metal Hammer from the renowned Mediahouse Berlin as of 1 March 2025. From July, the marketing of podcast shows such as ‘Rolling Stone Weekly’ and ‘Metal Hammer Podcast’ will also be added.

 

In an exclusive interview with Meedia, Steffen Bax, Managing Director of iq digital, Julia Schleunung, Managing Director of iq media and Petra Kalb, Publisher of Mediahouse Berlin, explain how the collaboration came about and what the whole thing has to do with a chance conversation at the OMR Festival.

 

Behind the merger is a clear strategy with the aim of not only maintaining cultural brands, but also developing them in a relevant way: With target groups that really fit. With formats that show attitude. With marketing that is more than just selling adverts. Steffen Bax says: ‘We are more than marketers - we are communication service providers.

 

The three managing directors are convinced of the importance of a common attitude: quality, emotion and cross-media thinking make the difference - especially in times of automated advertising.
